What We Do

Six ways we shape your outdoors

From the first sketch to the last paver, every project moves through the same hands — design and construction, under one roof.

01

Landscape Design

Concept plans, planting palettes and material selections built around how you actually use your yard.

02

Garden Construction

Retaining walls, garden beds, irrigation and drainage — the groundwork that makes a garden last.

03

Decking

Spotted gum, merbau and composite decks detailed for Queensland sun, storms and bare feet.

04

Outdoor Living

Kitchens, fire pits, pergolas and pool surrounds built for long afternoons outside.

05

Planting

Native and subtropical planting schemes chosen for your soil, aspect and the birds you want to attract.

06

Garden Renovations

Tired gardens reworked in stages, without losing the trees and structure worth keeping.

Recent Work

Every site starts as cleared dirt or an overgrown yard. Here’s a sample of where they ended up.

Before & After

See the difference good bones make

Drag the divider — or use your keyboard — to compare a typical starting point with where thoughtful design and planting can take a backyard. This is an illustrative pairing built from two separate stock photos, not before/after shots of a single Oak & Tide project.

Illustrative before example: a plain above-ground pool area with minimal planting, standing in for a typical starting yard
Illustrative after example: a pool framed by established trees and lush layered garden planting, standing in for a finished result

How We Work

Four steps, one point of contact

The same designer follows your project from first conversation to handover.

We walk the site with you, talk through how you live outdoors, and get a feel for budget and timeframe.

Concept plans, materials and a fixed-price proposal, refined until the whole family is happy with it.

Our crew handles earthworks, hardscape, planting and irrigation, with regular updates as the site changes.

A final walkthrough, a maintenance guide for your specific planting, and aftercare support through year one.

About Oak & Tide

Built on the Gold Coast, for the Gold Coast climate

Oak & Tide Landscaping started in Currumbin Valley in 2013, building gardens that hold up to subtropical storms, salt air and long summers outside.

We’re a small studio-and-crew team — a design side that plans the space properly, and a construction side that builds it to last. Every project is led by the same designer from first sketch to handover, on sites from the hinterland to the beachfront.

What Gold Coast homeowners say

A handful of comments from recent Oak & Tide projects.

★★★★★
“Oak & Tide turned a bare, sloped block into somewhere we actually want to sit. The drainage work alone saved us years of a boggy backyard.”

★★★★★
“They listened, then designed something better than what we asked for. The deck sits perfectly with the afternoon sun.”
Michael T.
Burleigh Heads, QLD
★★★★★
“Honest about timelines, tidy on site, and the planting has filled in beautifully in under a year.”

How long does a typical project take?

Small garden refreshes can run 2–3 weeks. Full design-and-build projects with decking, pool surrounds or major planting typically take 8–14 weeks depending on scope and weather.

Is the initial quote free?

Yes — an initial site visit and ballpark quote are free. A detailed fixed-price proposal follows the design stage.

Do you work on renovations, not just new builds?

Both. About half our work each year is renovating existing gardens in stages, working around what’s already established.
